It doesn’t make sense for law firms to pay for online marketing and not connect the dots with inbound leads. Lead generation is crucial and, if NOT done right, you will watch your marketing dollars going down the drain. If you were asked these questions, could you answer them?
- How many new leads came in this week?
- How many new leads were converted into an initial consult?
- How many new consults resulted in new retainers?

But what does being on page 1 mean exactly? Your goal is to get to page 1 through PPC Advertising, Google Maps, Mobiles or Desktops. And, yes, they are all different and if you’re not on page 1, your competition is bound to be.
So, let’s assume you are on page 1 and someone is searching for an attorney; let’s say an immigration attorney. They call in from your Google Maps listing. How are you logging this call? Are you asking them how they found your listing? Remember, Google Maps will be able to give you a high level of analytics, but the detail will still be in your hands. Do you have a CRM platform that you work with? Not your billing platform, but a platform focused on business development. If you don’t have a CRM, log your calls in excel – if you don’t have a template, email us, we do! It is so important to capture each and every lead; you need to know how many people are calling or emailing and why. Are there trends in certain keywords that work better than others? Are the calls correlated to the types of services that are actually profitable for your law firm? Many questions need to be answered.
